We explain formulas, identify assumptions, show units, disclose sponsored content, and tell readers when a value should be checked against current tooling data, equipment documentation, or a procedure-specific requirement.
Use the free turning, thread and taper worksheets to record inputs, units and source documents alongside a worked example. These printable PDFs complement the interactive tools; they are not machine programs or production approval.
A calculator converts a defined set of inputs. It cannot determine the right material grade, qualified welding procedure, machine load limit or actual equipment rate for you. Start with the source that owns the input: the tooling supplier for cutting data, material documentation for thickness and properties, and your verified process records for time or cost.
Check one worked example with its stated units before entering your own values. If a result looks wrong, send the tool URL and inputs to the correction channel. Our verification method explains what the numerical checks do—and do not—establish.
